Application
In this lesson the students will learn about angles. I will use the angle example that I 3-D printed in order for them to be able to see exactly what each angle is.

  • Learners: The lesson would be taught to a 7th grade class. However in this case my audience is my peers.
  • Learning outcomes: At the end of this activity the students will be able to identify right angles, acute angles, obtuse angles and straight angles. They also be able to use their knowledge about these things to identify supplementary and complementary angles.
  • Assessment: I will use the following website to check their understanding of all the different types of angles taught.

  • I will lecture using the smart board. I will present definitions that will be needed for the student to understand the lesson.
  • The vocabulary list includes the following: angle, right angle, acute angle, obtuse angle, straight angle, supplementary angle and complementary angle.
  • Then I will present some examples to see if they understand what is going on. I will give them on the board and ask them to tell me what kind of angle it is or if the two angles are complementary or supplementary.
  • After I have been insured through verbal review that they understand the concept we will move to the computers and practice some angles and determine supplementary and complementary angles.

Reflection

I felt like my lesson went fairly well. The students seemed to have a good understanding of the concept. However that was something the audience already knew. I think this would work really well for 7th graders. I think the activity on the computers was a nice supplement to the concept. I really enjoyed teaching this lesson.
